During the Anti-Japanese War, in Jiangsu Province. In order to consolidate the anti-Japanese base, Chen Yi (played by Liu Xitian) was ordered by the Central Government to lead the New Fourth Army northward. Chiang Kai-shek commanded the chairman of Jiangsu Province, Han Deqin (played by Yang Ciyu), to gather forces several times larger than ours, aiming to annihilate the New Fourth Army in Northern Jiangsu. The corps commander Zhao Yong (played by Xu Xing) led his troops to the outskirts of Taizhou City, eager to eliminate the opposing Liu Shiyi (played by Peng Qiyu) and Liu Yukun (played by Jiang Hualin) who were ordered by Han Deqin to defend the city, with the intention of using the New Fourth Army to eliminate his rivals and eventually dominate Jiangsu.
