McCall (Denzel Washington) is a retired black ops operative who has spent years entrenched in a life filled with violence and danger. McCall's inner turmoil has left him weary, and in his quest to escape the organization, he goes to great lengths to fake his own death. He arrives in Boston, reinvents himself, and lives incognito, hoping to lead a peaceful and quiet new life. One day, McCall encounters Teri (Chloe Grace Moretz), a young girl controlled by the Russian mob. Her troubled past and perilous situation earn McCall's sympathy, prompting him to decide to help this unfortunate girl. However, while rescuing Teri, McCall finds himself caught in the gang's powerful crossfire. Disillusioned by the police's incompetence and corruption, McCall resolves to stand up against the system.
