In the 1980s, beautiful college student Samantha Hughes (played by Jocelin Donahue) is interested in an apartment. The kind female landlord has waived the troublesome deposit, but Samantha still has to work hard for the monthly rent. She finds a babysitting job on a bulletin board, and that evening, her friend Megan (played by Greta Gerwig) drives her to the interview at her employer's house.
