In the New Jersey town of Passaic, where jazz master "Fats Waller" grew up, old man Fletcher (Danny Glover) clings to memories of the master and runs a video rental store amid the wave of commercialization. Young black guy Mike (Mos Def) and the town's neurotic unemployed man Jerry (Jack Black) spend all day hanging out in the video store. Recently, Jerry feels that the microwave radiation from the power plant is controlling the town's residents, so he asks Mike to help him blow up the plant. However, Mike, who was entrusted by Fletcher to take care of the store, hesitates at the last minute, leading to Jerry's failure.
