"Stolen Goods" depicts a middle-aged man, Guan Fuqiang (played by Ren Dahua), who, impoverished and out of work, descends into despair. He blames both heaven and man, resenting the unfairness of fate. As the saying goes, poverty breeds change; having feared a lifetime of being broke, old Guan takes desperate measures, stealing others' ashes in a bid to extort ransom for survival. In the darkness, the lines between humans and ghosts blur. "Letting Go" features He Ke (played by Liang Jiahui), a feng shui master advocating music to exorcise evil, who is forced to close his shop due to high rents. On his final day, he meets a couple claiming to have encountered ghosts, and due to the complicated situation, he introduces them to his colleague, the crystal fortune teller Wang Lan (played by Chen Huishan). However, his last day of business does not end so simply, as a student girl with a tight grip on her left hand approaches Master He. "Awakening" marks the beginning of the White Tiger Festival, where Granny Zhu (played by Shao Yinyin) sets up a stall under the E-neck Bridge to perform curses. That night, wealthy woman Gu Meihua (played by Gu Meihua) and a client named Liang Zhenying (played by Lu Haipeng) visit her. Just as Granny Zhu is about to pack up, a grim-faced girl sits beside her, demanding curses to retaliate against three men and a woman. This film is adapted from a short story by Li Bihua.
