Due to the rampant spread of evil forces, a group of exceptionally powerful individuals rises up in the name of justice. They wear masks and dress in eccentric costumes to combat various villains. Soon, their heroic deeds spread nationwide through the media, and the names of superheroes like Dollar Bill, Silk Spectre, Rorschach, and Nite Owl become widely known. They become involved in both major and minor significant events, each facing different fates due to their personalities. However, in the 1970s, a government decree led some heroes who were unwilling to become pawns of the elite to retire, resulting in a fragmentation of the superhero group. On a day in 1985, the government-employed superhero "Comedian," Edward Blake (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), is murdered. Walter Kovacs, aka Rorschach (played by Jackie Earle Haley), who is on the run, realizes that someone is targeting former superheroes, and a larger conspiracy lies behind it...
