The film focuses on the summer of 1957, telling the legendary story of Ferrari's battle with Maserati for dominance on the racetrack. One morning, Enzo Ferrari's wife receives two phone calls, informing her that Jean Behra has just arrived from Milan. Discovering that Ferrari is not at home, his wife Laura is extremely angry because the couple has been maintaining their strained marriage, with a daily agreement to have coffee together each morning. When Ferrari learns that Behra has come specifically to challenge his racing records, he calls his friend Mossolini for help. In a fit of anger, Laura directly confronts Ferrari, telling him that their company is going bankrupt. Their son Dino died two years ago from muscular dystrophy. While Ferrari is engulfed in feelings of loss and sadness in the church and cemetery, Behra is already revving up for the race. Unexpected incidents occur, including the unfortunate death of his racing friend Mossolini. Ferrari has no choice but to face the dangerous Mille Miglia to secure sponsorship funds. The Mille Miglia race is arduous, traversing valleys, woods, grasslands, and rapids, encountering extreme weather like blizzards, fraught with danger; along the way, Ferrari battles fiercely with Maserati and other racing cars. There are continual accidents, and after a crash in Guidizzolo, Ferrari is charged with manslaughter, ultimately being acquitted by the court. After Laura's death, Ferrari is officially recognized as the heir to Ferrari Company. In the following year, Ferrari regains the World Championship, and his red race car becomes the dominant force in the world of racing. The screenplay is adapted from Brock Yates' 1991 novel "Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races."
