This film, adapted from the novel by Riko Shimamoto, is the second installment of the “(not) HEROINE movies” project that follows "We Are Adults." It depicts the growth of Aiko Maeda, a graduate student with a bruise on the left side of her face. Aiko, who had been living a life dedicated to research, finds her situation change drastically after her reportage book on "people with bruises and injuries on their faces" gains attention. The book is then adapted into a movie, and she becomes attracted to the director, Aita Tobisaka, whom she meets through the help of a friend who is an editor. As Aiko's feelings for the work-oriented Tobisaka, who is not hindered by relationships with women, grow, she begins to confront her own insecurities head-on.
