Charlie (Logan Lerman) is a shy and lonely high school freshman, possessing sensitivity and tearfulness beyond his years. He always silently observes the family and friends around him, making him a typical "wallflower." His adolescence is filled with various setbacks, including the death of his aunt who intended to buy him a birthday gift, the suicide of his best friend, bullying from peers, and unrequited love. However, Charlie is not the most unfortunate, as there are many others like him cornered by life. He is lucky to have an open-minded teacher and two older friends: the rebellious and charming girl Sam (Emma Watson) and the confident gay boy Patrick (Ezra Miller), who help Charlie understand that sometimes he cannot remain a spectator forever; he must get involved to have his own remarkable experiences. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name, written and directed by the author Stephen Chbosky. Produced by the team behind Juno, it features a host of popular idols from the 90s and delves into sensitive topics such as suicide, bullying, sexuality, and drugs, all while crafting an inspirational diary for the LOSER.
