Hidden in the vast winter snow of Asia Minor is an endless desolation. Primary school teacher Samet compares himself to dry grass and has been hoping to be transferred back to a school in the city. However, one day a love letter written by a student and hidden in his notebook is discovered, leading to allegations of sexual harassment against him. His dreams shattered, camaraderie deteriorated, and whispers among other staff members bring Samet to the brink of collapse. Until he meets a female teacher who helps him overcome his difficulties, bringing change to this desperate winter. Turkish film master Nuri Bilge Ceylan returns with a new work after four years, reflecting on the pain and redemption between people, both introspective and cautionary. A debate on ideology concerning group versus individual, struggle versus compromise at the dining table is particularly striking. The female lead won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first Turkish actress to achieve this honor.
