In 1919, during the Russian Civil War, Vassilis Kolovos's character Spyros flees the war with his wife Dana (played by Thalia Argiriou) and their two children, ending up in Greece amidst the tide of refugees. Years later, a community of Russian refugees forms a small village named "New Odessa." Spyros's adopted daughter Eleni (played by Alexandra Aidini) matures into a charming young woman and has twins with her beloved, non-blood-related brother Erikseos (played by Nikos Poursanidis). To escape her adoptive father's control and possessiveness, Eleni and her partner begin an endless flight. Fast forward to 1936, the family finds temporary peace. In pursuit of his musical dreams, Erikseos leaves his wife and children to go to America. Subsequently, war overtakes the world, shattering Eleni's carefully built family. Against the backdrop of a chaotic era, they drift, experiencing separations and losses... This film is the first part of the "Greek Trilogy" and won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2004 European Film Festival.
