Where does it feel like home? In the German city of Stadtallendorf, with its complex history of excluding and integrating foreigners, the kind-hearted teacher Dieter Bachmann helps his students experience the feeling of home. These students, aged 12 to 14, come from 12 different countries, and some have not yet fully mastered German. Before retiring, the teacher hopes to spark these future citizens' curiosity about different fields of work, themes, cultures, and lifestyles. After watching this engaging and empathetic documentary, one can't help but realize that if all children could be fortunate enough to have such emotionally intelligent and patient teachers, conflicts could be alleviated through discussion, and John Lennon's "Imagine" could become a reality. Director Maria Speth and cinematographer Reinhold Vorschneider show that education is not only important but can be a spectacular process, presenting it beautifully on screen to the extent that the film itself almost takes on a heroic quality.
