This film is based on true events from the Korean War. In August 1950, the Korean People's Army captured Seoul and advanced southward. The South Korean side called up students to enlist, forming the "Student Volunteer Army" to resist fiercely. The unit of student soldier Woo Chang-Ban (played by Choi Seung-Hyun/T.O.P) was repeatedly pushed back by the People's Army. To replenish troops, dozens of student soldiers joined the combat ranks, including a troubled student named Zhao (played by Kwon Sang-Woo) whose parents were killed by the People's Army. These student soldiers formed a small team of 71, led by Woo Chang-Ban, to defend Pohang, while the South Korean forces retreated to the last line of defense before Busan - the Nakdong River. The isolated student soldier team positioned themselves in an abandoned school, facing the elite 766 unit of the Korean People's Army, commanded by Major Park Woo-Rang (played by Cha Seung-Won), who ordered an attack on Pohang, closer to Busan, to fulfill the Supreme Leader's orders...
