In 1914, World War I broke out. By 1917, France, Britain, Italy, and other European nations formed alliances, determined to fight against Germany together. Many ambitious and passionate young men volunteered to join this unprecedented war on the European continent, hoping that their modest efforts could end the conflict and allow everyone to return to a peaceful and tranquil life. Breckin (James Franco), who lost his family farm, William, who wants to restore his family's honor, and Briggs, who longs to travel across the Atlantic, along with thirty-eight other young men, joined the overseas fighting air force for a common goal.
