In 1597, the Korean Joseon Dynasty was in a precarious situation. The main force of the Korean Navy suffered a huge blow following the demotion of General Lee Soon-shin (played by Choi Min-sik), leading to a collapse of military discipline and leaving only a few warships. Meanwhile, the Japanese pirates seized the opportunity to send Hashiba Aji (played by Jo Jin-woong), collaborating with the fearsome "Pirate King" Kurushima Tsuneo (played by Ryu Seung-ryong) and his pirate army to launch a joint attack, aiming to conquer Hanyang. In this critical moment, Lee Soon-shin defied the consensus and decided to lead the remaining dozen warships to confront the Japanese pirates at the Myeongryang Strait. Lee Soon-shin first sent his subordinate Im Jun-young (played by Jin Goo) to meet undercover agent Joon-sha (played by Ohtani Ryohei) in the enemy camp, and then revitalized the morale of his troops by rallying them with the spirit of "the brave live, the fearful die," calling for a decisive battle against the Japanese pirates. As the decisive battle began, Lee Soon-shin took the lead and fiercely held onto Blood Island, defeating several waves of the "Pirate King's" advance forces. At a crucial moment, the mute wife of Im Jun-young (played by Lee Jeong-hyun) understood his lip movements, allowing Lee Soon-shin to successfully save the ships. Ultimately, with the cooperation of both military and civilians, a significant blow was dealt to the Japanese fleet, creating a famous battle in world naval history where the few triumphed over the many.
