During World War I, Charles (Ronald Colman) is injured and loses his memory, and decades of his life suddenly become a blank slate. In a state of confusion and despair, he encounters the dancer Paula (Greer Garson). Upon learning of Charles's situation, Paula decisively takes on the responsibility of caring for him. Under Paula's careful attention, Charles gradually recovers. Although his memory does not return, he regains his ability to read and write, becoming a writer. A sudden car accident awakens memories in Charles’s mind, but it also takes away everything about Paula. Heartbroken, Paula does not give up; instead, she gets close to the unaware Charles again, this time in the role of a secretary. Can this couple, who are in sync yet continually miss each other, find a happy ending?
