On a seemingly tranquil morning in Philadelphia, former UN investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is driving his wife Karen (Mireille Enos) and their two daughters, Rachel (Abigail Hargrove) and Connie (Sterling Jerins), out. However, the initially happy atmosphere quickly turns into panic and death, with a series of explosions, terrified crowds fleeing, chaotic car crashes, and zombies biting people, leading to the rapid downfall of the bustling metropolis. Gerry struggles fiercely to escape with his wife and daughters, ultimately reaching the aircraft carrier where the UN Deputy Secretary-General is located, only to learn that several world leaders, including the President of the United States, have died, and the zombie virus has spread globally. To prevent the world's destruction, Gerry reluctantly takes on a mission, teaming up with virus specialist Dr. Fassbach (Elyes Gabel) from Harvard to find a solution at the virus's origin. This is a journey filled with almost no hope and immense suffering, as the fate of the world hangs in the balance...
