On Nakadōri Island, one of the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture, lives the happy Saeki family. Father Toru (Ken Matsudaira) and wife Misayo (Jun Fubuki) raise their five children: Asamu (Sōfu Takaoka), Kozue (Noriko Nakagawa), Chizuru (Maki Horikita), Shizuka (Karen Miyama), and Gōta (Shūma Nakamura). Toru loves his hometown, family, and work, but this strong-willed father inevitably interferes with his children's freedom. Chizuru, who loves photography, grows up and no longer wishes to be controlled by her father. After graduation, she is determined to go to Tokyo to pursue her dreams. A father-daughter conflict is unavoidable, but the tough father will eventually relent, and the hometown will always be an unshakeable bond for the children who wander far away… This film is based on the novel by Masashi Sada.
