Samita (Megan Suri), an Indian-American girl from a traditional Indian family, yearns to fit into the free high school life in America, rejecting the Indian traditional culture her mother incessantly instills and distancing herself from her childhood friend Tamira (Mohana Krishnan), who also shares Indian heritage. She notices that this former friend is becoming increasingly strange, carrying an empty glass jar, nervously muttering to herself, and emitting an unpleasant odor.
