"Marks of the Mountain" (マークスのやま) is a novel by Kaoru Takamura. It was published as a hardcover by Hayakawa Publishing in 1993 and was included in a revised edition in Kodansha Bunko in 2003. Takamura won the 109th Naoki Prize (first half of 1993) for this work. A boy who survived a parent-child suicide incident at the Yashajin Pass in the Southern Alps grows up to adopt the name "Marks" and commits a series of murders. Hidden within "Marks" is a keyword related to a certain incident.
