"Transforming passive viewers into active observers, fully focused on awaiting the next developments." ─ The Upcoming website There are no actors, no scripts, no false emotions. "The Distance Between Us and Sex" is a documentary drama that transcends reality and fiction. Directed by Tamer Jandali, it took four months to closely film seven men and women aged between 25 and 45 living in Cologne, Germany, who take control of their own destinies and bravely express their situations and feelings. Sophia moves back in with her mother and sisters; unemployed, she decides to engage in prostitution; Sönke, robust and passionate about boxing, has no fixed residence among his female partners until he meets the girl he admires; Renée studies massage therapy and starts living with her girlfriend Pina, with whom she is in a passionate relationship; Stella maintains an open relationship with her boyfriend Nick, but struggles with her inner anxieties. Four groups of characters develop interwoven stories, candidly revealing themselves in front of the camera, making love as naturally as breathing. Yet what resonates more deeply is the uncompromising attitude toward life and the quest to find a love that brings happiness and demands full commitment. But is love really that simple? Can sex truly bridge the distance between people?
