Paper-cutting artist Yaeko Sawada (Sayuri Yoshinaga) and Hakodate Daily reporter Kiyotaka Torigai (Shima Iwashita) have been very close friends since their university days. They once participated together in the famous security movement and fell in love with the same man (Ryozan Hayashi). After graduation, they lived apart in Tokyo and Hakodate, working hard for their own lives.
