Takao (played by Ason Terao) and Michiko (played by Kanako Higuchi) have been married for many years and are settled in Tokyo. Although Takao always claims to be a novelist, he has long faded from prominence and now can't sell a single piece of work, leaving the burden of supporting the family on his elite physician wife. An unexpected incident causes Michiko to develop panic disorder, and in order to alleviate her condition, Takao decides to move the family to a small village in their hometown of Shinshu. In the village, the couple meets 96-year-old Grandma Yukita. Grandma Yukita always has many wild ideas in her head, and she recounts these stories to the throat-ill girl Sayuri (played by Manami Konishi), who then organizes these words into articles published in the village's small newspaper, "Amida Hall News."
