Played by Tony Leung, Xiao Hai was once a bank robber. During the escape with stolen money, a bag of cash fell into the sea. Xiao Hai, remorseful, decides to quit crime, but his older brother forces him to commit one last heist. They have an argument, and during the struggle, Xiao Hai injures his brother. The brother holds a grudge against Xiao Hai and suspects him of secretly taking assets, vowing to take revenge. Xiao Hai escapes to a remote mountain village to hide and wait for an opportunity to go to the Philippines. The village owner and his subordinate, A Wei, have prejudices against the introverted Xiao Hai and mock him in various ways. Later, the village owner's daughter, Xiao Mi, returns from overseas and meets Xiao Hai, and they gradually develop feelings for each other. Ultimately, Xiao Hai's brother finds his hiding place through A Wei, and Xiao Hai also wishes to resolve their conflict. The brother feigns reconciliation, leading Xiao Hai into a trap.
