Two young girls, one born in Poland and the other in France, sharing the same appearance and age, also have the same name: Véronique. They both love music and have sweet voices. The Polish Véronique is very fond of singing and excels in high notes. She feels that she is not living alone in this world, and one day she unexpectedly encounters a girl who looks exactly like her. However, she tragically dies of a heart attack on stage during a performance. At the same time, the Véronique in France is immersed in joy with her boyfriend, when suddenly she feels an overwhelming sense of emptiness and sadness. From then on, a hauntingly sorrowful tune frequently echoes in her life, and she falls in love with a children's book author. During a chat with her boyfriend, she discovers a photograph taken in Poland featuring a woman strikingly similar to her, which makes her deeply believe that there is another self existing in the world.
