1. In the town of Fénal, engineer Swano (played by Kim Rossi Stuart) meets school teacher Carmen (played by Inés Sastre) and they fall in love at first sight, but Carmen rejects Swano's kiss. Three years later, when they meet again, Swano hesitates in the face of desire; 2. In a seaside town, a director (played by John Malkovich) meets a beautiful woman (Sophie Marceau). She confesses to the director that she once killed her father. Instead of drifting apart, they become entangled in a passionate relationship; 3. In Paris, a wife leaves her unfaithful husband and meets Carlo (played by Jean Reno), who has lost his wife, while searching for a place to rent. They seem to find a shared emotional connection; 4. A handsome boy falls in love with a girl (played by Irène Jacob), he follows and confesses his feelings, only to learn that she is destined to give herself to God.
