In the Edo period, Otsumatsu, Kanpachi (played by Rikiya Yasukawa), and Yasuke (played by Takumi Kawaguchi) are sentenced to death for different crimes. Just before their execution, they are saved by the Edo town governor, Utsumi Sonbei (played by Tsunehiko Watase), and become the shadowy figure known as the Shishuto, using assassination and other means to eradicate evil. To save their lives, the three agree and are stripped of their voices. During one of Kawaguchi's missions, he encounters a beautiful woman named Asaki, and they fall in love, eventually marrying and having a daughter, Acho (played by Mariko Ishihara). However, in the world of the underbelly, circumstances force Yasuke to abandon his wife and daughter to return to the Shishuto. Twenty years later, while tracking down Tsuzan (played by Takeo Jii) and his mistress (played by Mari Natsuki), Yasuke unexpectedly meets his now-adult daughter, Acho. This encounter changes the lives of both father and daughter forever...
