The film is based on the works of Marquis de Sade. It depicts the complex relationship between Countess Martina de Bressac (played by Lina Romay) and her husband Armand (played by Armando Borges). Martina's marriage is a farce; it is evident that her husband married her solely for her wealth. After returning home from a mental institution, Martina gradually discovers a desolate scene: her husband belittles and insults her alongside her lover—a young bisexual named Fiore (played by Fernando Ferreira).
