Universal Pictures announced today that it will create a sequel to the 2014 summer sleeper hit R-rated comedy "Neighbors," scheduled for release in North America on May 13, 2016. The film stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, and Rose Byrne, who will all return. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Neighbors" sequel will feature a "gender role reversal." In the first film, Rogen and Byrne play a young couple with a newborn daughter who engage in a fierce battle against noisy college fraternity boys moving in next door. However, in the sequel, their new neighbors will be a group of college sorority girls who are just as rowdy. After a few rounds of confrontation, the young couple feels overwhelmed, so they call in reinforcements, specifically Zac Efron's character, who has transformed from an enemy to a friend in the first film, as the fraternity president becomes a model for A&F.
