Ibu and Emi were childhood friends, and now Emi, who has moved away for many years, returns to her hometown as a transfer student, where an innocent romance is about to unfold. However, a mysterious event changes everything; their developing bodies are swapped, and the confusion they face is doubled. Originally a children’s literary work rich in sexual education themes, it transforms into a subtle coming-of-age story on screen. Without the pretense of exploiting gender differences, it instead evokes a sense of nostalgia. This is the first film of Nobuhiko Obayashi's "Onomichi Trilogy," where the director watched the filming of "Tokyo Story" at the age of fifteen, which explains the familiar black-and-white scenes interspersed throughout the film.
