Two brothers played by Andy Lau and Lin Wei got separated during the great escape tide in 1962. Wei was deported to the mainland for labor reform, while Hua was rescued by the dancer Wen Bixia and they got married in Hong Kong. Hua started as a laborer and later became a successful businessman in Taiwan's aquaculture and shipping industries, while Wei was hired by a crime syndicate to participate in a robbery in Hong Kong. He was then instructed to go to Taiwan to kidnap Hua's daughter, but accidentally killed Hua's daughter.
