This film tells the story of an elderly woman in an old industrial city in Northeast China during the seven days leading up to the winter fishing season. After her husband passed away several years ago, 82-year-old Zhao Lihua developed mild depression. She intends to go to the workers' bathhouse for a soak but is repeatedly denied entry and humiliated. Her son, Zhu Hongbing, goes to great lengths to find two women to accompany his mother for her bath, turning what seems like a simple daily routine into an extraordinarily difficult challenge for the pair. In the end, the mother does not fulfill her wish to bathe at the workers' bathhouse, despite having worked at the factory her whole life. For Zhao Lihua, "bathing" is a cleansing ritual, and a dignified, "peaceful" departure is her final choice…
