Since the death of his wife, Sam (played by Tom Hanks) believes that the love of his life has come to an end and that no new romance will enter his heart. He lives a quiet life in Seattle with his son Jonah. However, Jonah has always hoped that his dad could start a new marriage and regain the sunshine of life. With this thought in mind, Jonah calls a radio emotional hotline on Christmas Eve. Thus, Sam's experience spreads across various corners that night, with many listening to his story, including Annie (played by Meg Ryan) — a reporter living in the East. She is kind, gentle, has a close friend, and a fiancé who is about to get married. However, this phone call completely shatters her happy life. There is an impulse within her that leads her step by step closer to this man in the West. However, repeated missed chances prevent Sam and Annie from meeting. The two continue to pursue love under the sky of fate, waiting for an opportunity for a meeting.
