In the Yunsheng Dynasty, demonic spirits wreak havoc, and on his deathbed, the Emperor arranges for Princess Shengning to marry General Bai Yi of the Fulong army. Bai Yi moves into the princess's residence and is to share a bed with her, but the princess requests to cancel the marriage from the Empress dowager and is refused. Upon examination by the imperial physician, it is found that the Emperor died of rapid aging, which Bai Yi begins to suspect. The princess's cousin, Bie Jin, attempts to seduce Bai Yi, only to embarrass herself; Bai Yi remains focused on investigating the Emperor's cause of death. Bai Yi catches the princess eloping with Prince Rui red-handed, and she threatens to take her own life if Bai Yi does not leave her bedroom. The princess is injured by a demon, and in a critical moment, Bai Yi arrives just in time to kill the assassin leader and save her, easing their relationship. Once back at the residence, the princess realizes she has secretly fallen for Bai Yi and actively invites him to her bed, but Bai Yi is tempted yet ultimately avoids her advances. The Tail Fire Tiger kidnaps the princess, and everyone discovers that Bie Jin is actually the Heart Moon Fox who killed the Emperor. In the ensuing chaos, the demon-catching master Zhong Zhi Yang arrives to subdue Bie Jin; Bai Yi kills the Tail Fire Tiger but dies in the princess's arms. The princess, holding Bai Yi's ashes, contemplates ending her life but is saved by a young hero, who turns out to be Bai Yi's long-lost brother.
