Gloria (played by Julianne Moore) once had a failed marriage, but this experience did not make her lose hope in life and love; on the contrary, she feels that she is better now than before. In her daily life, Gloria enjoys going to a dance club, where she encounters a man named Arnold (played by John Turturro). Like Gloria, Arnold has just divorced his wife and has a child living with his ex. Their similar experiences quickly spark a romance between Gloria and Arnold, and they soon become a couple. However, as the passion fades, issues begin to surface between them. Although Arnold is divorced, it is clear that his ex-wife cannot adapt to life without him, and her lingering presence becomes a ticking time bomb buried in the relationship between Gloria and Arnold.
