Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit over 100 years old, living in his home of the Shire. He has a natural inclination for adventure, and during an adventure in his youth, he obtained the One Ring from the creature Gollum. This ring was forged by the Dark Lord Sauron and possesses the evil power to enslave the world, allowing him to dominate other rings of power. In a battle 3,000 years ago between the alliance of men and the orc army, the alliance emerged victorious and acquired the One Ring. After thousands of years of passing, the ring fell into the hands of Gollum, from whom Bilbo fortuitously acquired it. Bilbo's close association with the ring began to affect his character. At his 111th birthday celebration, he decided to leave everything to his nephew Frodo (played by Elijah Wood) and continue his adventures. Bilbo's good friend, the Grey Wizard Gandalf (played by Ian McKellen), knows the secret of the One Ring. Meanwhile, the Dark Lord Sauron is aware that his ring has fallen into the hands of hobbits. Sauron is rebuilding the fortress Barad-dûr, gathering countless orcs, preparing to seize the ring with his army and conquer the world. Gandalf persuades Frodo to escort the ring to the elven kingdom of Rivendell. With the help of Gondor's prince Aragorn, Frodo, accompanied by his good friends Sam, Pippin, and Merry, faces many challenges on their journey and eventually reaches the elven kingdom. However, the elves are unwilling to keep the evil One Ring. A council of representatives from the nations of Middle-earth is held to discuss and agree to send the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom to be destroyed. Frodo steps forward to accept this task, and this time, in addition to his three good friends, he is joined by Gandalf, Aragorn, the elf Legolas (played by Orlando Bloom), the man Boromir, and the dwarf Gimli. Along the way, the Fellowship of the Ring not only has to evade the Dark Riders and the pursuit of Sauron's minions but also to resist the evil temptation of the One Ring itself, facing numerous difficulties ahead.
