Annie (Sandra Bullock) and Jack's romance did not last until the end. Heartbroken, Annie decides not to date a cop anymore. Her current boyfriend Alex (Jason Patric), in love, hides his identity as a police officer, but unfortunately, it gets exposed. To make amends, he takes Annie on a vacation to the Caribbean. On their cruise ship, there is a dangerous individual lurking—engineer Geiger (Willem Dafoe), who designed the ship's operating system. Geiger, suffering from a terminal illness and having been fired, seeks revenge against the company by taking control of the ship’s autopilot system and filling the ship with explosives. The captain is forced to abandon ship with the passengers. In a critical moment, Alex steps up, returning to the ship with Annie to rescue the trapped passengers. As the cruise ship heads toward destruction, Annie falls into Geiger's hands...
