Ryu (played by Shin Ha-kyun) is a deaf-mute young man who has depended on his sister since their parents died. At a special school, he meets his girlfriend (played by Bae Doona) who pretends to be deaf, and their relationship develops well. However, his sister becomes terminally ill and needs a kidney transplant to survive. He originally planned to trade his own kidney on the black market for a suitable kidney for his sister but was scammed, losing his own kidney and all his money. When a suitable kidney becomes available for his sister, he finds himself without the medical expenses. His girlfriend suggests that he kidnap the child of a wealthy person to demand ransom, claiming that such a kidnapping is not a sin.
