In the ancient land of Akkad, in the cradle of civilization between two rivers, the Black Scorpion warriors are the most elite royal guard. Asahar is the best among them; to protect his 13-year-old son, Mathayus (played by Michael Copon), he angers General Sargon. Wielding dark magic, Sargon commands a poisonous scorpion to kill Asahar. Driven by the determination to avenge his father, Mathayus joins the ranks of the Black Scorpions. Six years later, Mathayus returns home as a champion of the Black Scorpions, only to find that his enemy Sargon has usurped the throne from the old king. To test Mathayus's loyalty, Sargon orders him to kill his own brother. Mathayus rises in rebellion but is ultimately no match for Sargon’s dark powers and escapes from Akkad. Mathayus's childhood friend Layla (played by Karen Shenaz David) follows him on his journey, and together they travel to Egypt in search of a divine weapon that can defeat Sargon. They must face the man-eating monster Minotaur and the mysteries of the underworld beyond human comprehension…
