The poised and elegant Meihui (Liu Jia Ling), despite being an ordinary cosmetics salesperson, is full of ambition. When she encounters setbacks in her life, she finds confidence in the thought of her talented boyfriend Bill (Leon Lai), who is sure to succeed in the future. However, Bill, with his keen business mind, has yet to find opportunity and after working hard for years, remains just an ordinary employee, ultimately disappointing Meihui and causing her to leave him. A few years later, Bill achieves success and has a celebrity girlfriend named Xue'er (Shu Qi) to lean on emotionally. When Bill and Meihui unexpectedly meet again in Tokyo, Bill realizes he still deeply loves Meihui, but at this point, Meihui is about to marry a gang leader known as "Brother He Ping."
