Joan (Bette Davis) is a wealthy heiress who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Despite her affluent life, she is not happy because she lacks one thing: freedom. By chance, Joan encounters a band conductor named Allen (Jack Carson), and she is instantly attracted to his charm. They quickly become intimate and decide to elope and get married. Joan's disappearance causes her father great anxiety, and he hires a highly skilled pilot, Steve (James Cagney), to fly and bring his daughter back to Texas. However, Joan mistakenly believes that Steve is a kidnapper and tries every possible way to escape from the plane, leading to a series of humorous incidents. As if that weren't enough, the plane experiences a malfunction over the desert, forcing the group to land in the vast sea of sand.
