In 1995, a major armed robbery occurred in Guangdong, where a bank cash truck was hijacked by five armed robbers, resulting in a loss of up to 15 million. Three cash couriers lost their lives in the incident. The event shocked the nation, prompting the police to establish a special task force, led by Wang Shouyue (played by Lin Jiadong) and He Lan (played by Zhang Songwen), who quickly gathered evidence and successfully tracked down and apprehended the five robbers one by one. Surprisingly, the robbers revealed that the mastermind behind the case was Chen Xinwen (played by Da Peng), the owner of a construction company, along with his cousin Chen Xinnian (played by Sun Yang).
Chen Xinwen and Chen Xinnian, on the verge of failure, went on the run and disappeared without a trace. Fast forward twenty-one years, the case had long faded from the public’s attention, and Wang Shouyue had retired from the police force. However, a vague figure appearing in an ordinary video reignites his hope for solving the case. Wang Shouyue travels alone to a border city to search for the "stranger" in the video. The final showdown between good and evil officially begins twenty-one years later.
