The story takes place in a small American town called Blaine, which has a history of 150 years. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the town's founding, the government commissioned a local artist named Claire (played by Christopher Guest) to create a musical based on the town's history, which would be performed at the city theater on the day of the celebration. Soon, Claire began the casting process in town, selecting actors who were ordinary local residents. Although they had not undergone professional acting training, each of them held a genuine love for their hometown. One day, Claire received news from Broadway that a man named Guffman would be coming to watch the performance. If Mr. Guffman liked the citizens’ performance, this musical would have the opportunity to be performed on Broadway.
