The debut film of New Wave grandmother Agnès Varda, Short Cape Village is also the place where Varda grew up. The film mainly consists of two parts: a young man named Louis (Philippe Noiret) returns to his hometown, Short Cape Village, a fishing village located in the Sete region of France. His wife, Ella (Silvia Monfort), who has lived with him for four years, soon comes here as well. Louis has strong feelings for Short Cape, while Ella feels alienated. No matter how hard they try, the sense of estrangement further plunges their originally ordinary relationship into crisis. During their time in Short Cape, the couple explores their understanding of love and life... On the other hand, the government sends investigators to look into the sewage situation in Short Cape, and the villagers unite to drive out the outsiders. Life in Short Cape is calm and uneventful...
