Humans and numerous alien species coexist in a bustling interstellar metropolis called Alpha, the City of a Thousand Planets. For centuries, Alpha has become a marvelous paradise where various races live in peace and prosperity. Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are chosen to be the guardians of Alpha; they are operatives of the security division, assigned to intercept a trade involving a rare item that has a mysterious connection to a rare species believed to have vanished decades ago.
