In the summer of 2020, Paris ended its first wave of lockdown due to the pandemic. The theater troupe was rehearsing a new play adapted from Proust's novel "The Guermantes Way" at a theater on the Champs-Élysées. Unexpectedly, rumors of the performance being canceled ran rampant, leading to mixed opinions on whether to continue rehearsals. Some were concerned about maintaining social distance, others worried about conflicting with another show, and some breathed a sigh of relief at the thought of cancellation. Under the director's insistence to rehearse, the actors skeptically picked up their costumes again. Without the pressure of a performance, they found themselves more at ease, rehearsing autonomously day and night. The lines, expressions, and staging exercises effortlessly intertwined with their lives outside of the theater. The past that Proust recalled seemed to resonate with the various emotions disrupted by the pandemic. Anxiety and fear, loneliness and longing quietly took shape in the camera work and dialogue, making it difficult to discern whether it was the fleeting youth of the play or the time lost to pandemic measures outside of it. Regardless of the cancellation, everyone decided to fully enjoy the joy of gathering for rehearsals.
