The unremarkable middle-aged man, Mitchell (Fabrice Luchini), is the presiding judge of a court circuit. In the industry, Mitchell is nicknamed the "Double-Digit Judge" because every case he handles results in defendants receiving prison sentences of over ten years. This time, Mitchell must face a very tricky case involving a victim who is a 7-month-old baby. While presiding over the case, Mitchell also has to deal with a stubborn cold. Among the various jurors sitting in the jury box, one familiar face catches Mitchell's attention; she is Titte (Sidse Babett Knudsen), a doctor who once cared for the ill, main character, Mitchell. Titte's presence prompts Mitchell to take a more serious look at this perplexing case, which seems to have deeper implications.
