Xiao Meng, Xiao Qiao, and Hai Ping (played by Gu Xiangling) are three women struggling in the entertainment industry, having formed a deep friendship with each other. Hai Ping's boyfriend, A Tao (played by Huang Jianqun), is a compulsive gambler, leading to massive gambling debts. A Tao applied for a credit card in Hai Ping's name, resulting in an overdrawn amount that he is unable to repay. When Hai Ping learns of this, she is already heavily indebted. Angered, Hai Ping confronts A Tao, only to find that he shows no remorse and instead speaks harshly to her. Feeling hopeless, Hai Ping thinks that she'll never be able to repay these debts and decides to commit suicide. Fortunately, Xiao Qiao appears just in time to save Hai Ping. Xiao Qiao confronts A Tao to seek justice for her friend, but A Tao, in a fit of rage, ends up killing Xiao Qiao.
