After his release, he finds himself with nowhere to go and is taken in by restaurant owner Nick (Hector Elizondo), becoming a chef. The waitress Frankie (Michelle Pfeiffer) catches Johnny's eye, and soon he pursues her passionately. After a wonderful date, Johnny and Frankie spend a night full of passion together. However, the next day, Frankie's cold attitude is like a bucket of cold water on the still-sweet and happy Johnny. It turns out that Frankie was deeply hurt in her previous relationship, and she has closed herself off to protect her heart. But Johnny does not give up; his kindness and patience eventually touch Frankie, and they become a couple.
