After five years of wandering, K (played by Tōru Ōe) returns to his hometown, a fishing port town that still retains the same dreary and hopeless appearance he left it with, mirroring his current state of mind. K finds work at a pornographic cinema, Shōwa-kan, and soon starts an affair with the cinema's owner (played by Moeko Eizawa).
